Blue & White Poetry Ruoshen Teacup
$70.00Small and shallow, the traditional Gongfu teacup is shaped around a particular way of drinking tea: little enough to finish in a single sip, with a wide, low form that leaves little tea behind.
This Ruoshen cup follows that tradition with a thin, lightweight porcelain body, a broad rim, and a flat base. The porcelain is clean and luminous, while the open shape allows the aroma of the tea to rise naturally as the cup is brought to the lips.
Across the white porcelain, cobalt-blue calligraphy traces verses from Chang Xiang Si · Layers of Clouds by the Song dynasty poet Lu You. The blue characters bring a quiet rhythm to the surface, like ink moving across paper.
Made for the small, aromatic infusions of Gongfu tea, the cup feels particularly at home with Dancong and other oolongs—warming quickly between the fingers, then emptied almost as quickly.
The tea disappears in a sip; the poetry remains.
