2019 Bingdao Shou Pu'er Tea Cake (100g)
$110.00This carefully aged Shou Pu'er comes from one of China's most historically significant tea regions. Bingdao ("Ice Island") Old Village sits at 1,640 meters elevation in Yunnan's Mengku Township, part of Shuangjiang County in Lincang City. This area lies in the core region of the original birthplace of tea trees along the Lancang (Mekong) River, where tea cultivation has thrived for centuries. The village is one of five that make up the larger Bingdao administrative area, and it has become increasingly renowned in China for producing some of the finest quality tea leaves available.
This particular tea was processed in 2019 and has been aging in Chengdu since 2020. What sets it apart is the exceptional quality of its raw material - Bingdao's high elevation and ancient tea tree resources contribute to its distinctive character.
Tasting Notes:
- Aroma: Classical and elegant with subtle rock candy sweetness
- Texture: Refined and smooth
- Body: Full with a distinctive cooling sensation
- Finish: Long-lasting sweetness that lingers, particularly noticeable in the throat and chest
The tea was processed with meticulous attention to detail - each 100g cake was precisely pressed (10 cakes to 1kg), using pure, unblended material. It's been simply wrapped in white cotton paper, allowing it to age naturally and develop its current character.
While not an everyday drinking tea, this Bingdao Shou Pu'er is perfect for special occasions or moments when you want to slow down and appreciate the depth and complexity of a fine tea. Its current profile is excellent, and it shows promising potential for further aging.
