$70.00A classic 30ml Chaozhou Ruoshen cup, made with a thin porcelain body, the cup is covered in a soft pale-blue glaze and decorated using the traditional qinghua technique. Rather than the crisp contrast of conventional blue-and-white porcelain, the different shades of blue seem to dissolve gently into one another, giving the surface a quiet, almost watery quality.
At the bottom of the cup, a small mandarin fish is painted by hand. Pour in the tea, and the image softens beneath the golden liquor—as if the little fish were swimming quietly below the surface. As you drink, it slowly comes back into view.
Around the exterior runs the poetic line:
“竹斋眠听雨，梦里长青苔”
Listening to rain as I sleep in the bamboo studio; in dreams, green moss continues to grow.
