Tanghua Gold & Pumpkin Incense Burner
$520.00Petite in scale yet remarkably detailed, this incense burner brings together a Ming–Qing-inspired pumpkin form with decorative motifs rooted in the Tang dynasty.
Its softly rounded body is shaped by hand and painted with small repeating flowers in 24K gold and pure silver. The pattern takes inspiration from floral motifs found on a Tang-dynasty Chinese pipa preserved in Japan’s Shōsōin collection—a design known here as Tanghua, or “Tang flowers.”
Against the deep, dark surface, the gold blossoms catch the light with a warm, quiet glow. Above them rests an oxidized silver-alloy lid, intricately worked into overlapping bamboo leaves, creating a cool metallic contrast to the gold below.
At only 5.3 cm high, the burner was conceived as a portable incense vessel small enough to travel with, yet equally at home beside a tea setting or on a desk.
